Condition
Layout
A single column of 29 lines. 247-254 × 175 mm. Pricking survives in all three margins, but some has been lost to cropping. Ruled in hardpoint, system Leroy 1, type 32C1. Text hangs from the lines.
Hand(s)
ff. 1r-38v were copied by Hand B in mixed minuscule script, slanting to the right, in brown ink, with moderate variation in letter size. There is quite frequent flourishing of tails into the margin, often decorated with crossbars or X-shapes. There are deletions by erasure.
Syllabic abbreviations and superscript word endings are not in use. Breathings are both angular and round, and mute iota is adscript. Use of the double dot is functional only, and nomina sacra are unaccentuated. The double grave accent is in use. Circumflexes appear above breathings and are occasionally enlarged.
The sigma telikon is present, appearing only at the end of lines and often enlarged.
Punctuation used includes the lower, middle and upper points, lower comma, question mark and full stop.
Headings are written in Alexandrine majuscule script, in red ink.
ff. 39r-209v were copied by Hand C in an upright mixed minuscule script, in brown ink, with minimal variation in letter size.
Syllabic abbreviations and superscript word endings are not in use, apart from the horizontal stroke for nu at the end of lines. Breathings are both angular and round, and mute iota is absent. Use of the double dot is functional only, and nomina sacra are accentuated only when more than three letters long or with enclitics. The double grave accent is in use. Circumflexes appear above breathings and are enlarged in these cases, but often appear alongside breathings.
The sigma telikon is present, appearing only at the end of lines and often enlarged.
Punctuation used includes the lower, middle and upper points, lower comma, question mark and full stop.
Headings are written in Alexandrine majuscule script, in red ink.
Decoration
The beginning of the text on f. 1r is preceded by a thin rectangular headpiece in red ink.
Each text begins with a slightly decorated initial in red ink.
Texts after the first are preceded by simple vignettes in red ink.
Additions
There is a note of ownership of the Pantokrator Monastery on f. 1r: ‘Μὴν Ὀκτόβριος ἡγοῦν μετάφρασις μονῆς τοῦ Παντοκράτορος καὶ Σωτῆρος Χριστοῦ’
The date of the feast beginning on f. 1r has been duplicated by a later hand. Another has altered the date on f. 28v
A later hand has written a prayer for the priest Ioannes on f. 28r, following the end of a text, subsequently copied by another hand: ‘Κύριε βοήθει καὶ σῶσον τὸν ἀμαρτωολὸν[sic] Ἰωάννην· καὶ εὐτελῆ ἱερέα· καὶ συγχώρησον αὐτῶ πᾶσαν ἀμαρτίαν[sic] ’. Other prayers, each again copied other hands, appear after the end of other texts on ff. 49v, 83r and 209v.
There are other occasional marginal annotations in Greek, by various hands (e.g. ff. 4r-4v, 19v, 28v, 44r, 97r, 139v).
